10 Best Video Games Set In England
1. Resistance: Fall Of Man
Sony have never managed to find themselves a 'Halo killer' exclusive for the PlayStation, however Insomniac Games' Resistance series arguably came the closest after such a strong debut with Fall of Man in 2006.
A launch title for the PS3, the game is set in an alternate history where a strange virus has swept across mainland Europe and reached the United Kingdom. The virus transforms humans into an insect/alien-like hybrid race of creatures known as the Chimera. The Chimera take many forms and have overrun Britain by the time players arrive on the scene as Sergeant Nathan Hale, a soldier sent over as a part of an American relief force.
As well as boasting a strong assortment of real-world historical and powerful Chimeran weaponry that help give each mission a new layer of depth and strategy, the game also features various vehicles and machines to play with that most would have never expected in a console's launch title.
Fall of Man sees players travel all around the length of England, with fleshed out cities like York, Manchester and London providing huge battlegrounds for entire armies to clash on, and the likes of Grimsby and Bristol throwing in missions filled with tight corridors and plenty of silent stalking to nicely balance things out.
