10 Big Unannounced Video Games You'll Be Playing In 2018
9. Splinter Cell
Likelihood: 6/10
Ever since the last entry in the Splinter Cell series underperformed in 2013, Ubsioft have moved away from Sam Fisher's spy adventures entirely, opting instead to focus on new IPs and sequels to more popular titles. Consequently, Ubi's previous crown jewel has sat on the sidelines of the whole generation so far, but 2018 could be the perfect time for a long-anticipated comeback.
Despite its declining popularity, the stealth series is still one of the company's most respected properties, and a next-gen back-to-basics debut could be the perfect way to bring back estranged fans of the franchise. Sam still has a lot of reverence surrounding him, and a more open stealth experience could be right at home in Ubisoft's current stable of releases.
Likewise, looking at the publisher's upcoming schedule, they have nothing major on their plate after Far Cry 5 drops in February. With the exception of maybe a new Assassin's Creed game, there are no recent releases that could be due a sequel quite yet, meaning that the studio could be preparing a big surprise like this to fill out 2018.
