10 Canceled Open-World Games You Wish They Hadn't Killed

Speaking of promising titles that generated a lot of hype at E3 before vanishing back into their own ambition, here comes Eight Days. This improbable PS3 action game was the talk of Sony’s E3 2006 show, and the more fans learned about it, the more intriguing it all became.

There were a lot of interesting USPs around Eight Days. For starters, the player had the choice of either a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ character (morality-wise). The former was to be an officer investigating a criminal group who had abducted his son, while the latter had connections with the same group and wanted to exact vengeance on them.

True to the name, Eight Days was to be set across eight different American states, with a story that would encompass (you guessed it) eight days. There’s still some debate about the status of the game and how far along it had made it, but it’s painfully clear that the whole concept was just a little too ahead of its time logistics-wise. In the end, it was cancelled in favor of other big names Sony were working on at the time.
