10 Characters You Should've Been Able To Save (But Couldn't)

3. Ethan Forrester (Telltale's Game of Thrones)

Mass Effect Thane
Telltale Games

Everyone knows that Game of Thrones is as brutal to its characters as a kid with a magnifying glass is to an anthill. That said, when combining the franchise with the Telltale game model, death initially feels like something you'll have more control over. Hell, these games are famed for their narrative looseness regarding character death; it'll be fine.

Then, one of the main playable characters is brutally killed, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Telltale's Game of Thrones puts you in control of five main characters, one of which being the kind, bright, and loveable Ethan Forrester. This young man is thrust into a position he doesn't want to be in as Lord of Ironrath, eventually leading to the Bastard of Bolton, Ramsay Snow, murdering him. This happens at the end of the first episode, making you wonder if you could have done anything to prevent it.

Well, unlike most Telltale characters who can avoid death based on choices, there really isn't anything you can do. Ethan is one of the developer's only characters with a fixed, canonical death. Damn it, Telltale, "Everyone will remember that."
