10 Classic FIFA Songs

2. X Girlfriend - Zola (FIFA World Cup 2006)

X Girlfriend is the type of song most people would never have heard, had it not been for FIFA. Definitely one of the more "obscure" song choices, it featured South African music for the 1st time on a FIFA game. Symbolically, it also represented the 2010 World Cup hosts since they missed out on qualification for the 2006 tournament.

Ah the height of his fame, Zola was referred to as the country's second most popular man, next to Nelson Mandela. His music is charged with messages of anguish, struggle, and the general challenges faced by those living in townships. X Girlfriend is no different, and adds something a bit more real to the game's soundtrack.
