10 Classic PC Games That Have Been Updated For Modern Devices

There's been no better time to revisit these legendary titles.

We should spare a thought for poor old console games. They essentially die off each time a new generation comes along without offering any kind of backwards compatibility (hats off to the Xbox One for finally breaking the mould here). Sure, it's all the rage to give the biggest and most famous games of the previous generation a glossy 'remaster', but more offbeat, alternative, and outright old games are regularly consigned to the history books. Not so on the PC though, where old-school games have been regenerated by the rise of the digital downloads market, treated with the reverence they deserve and immortalised on sites like GOG.com and Steam for gamers to enjoy forever. The main difference between the two platforms is that on GOG, games are DRM-free, so you're free to install them without a desktop client, and can store the install files on your hard drive or a CD if you wish. Not only that, but many of the most loved classic PC games have been updated in the last few years by their developers to support HD resolutions, updated controls, and improved graphics. You can find games that are over 15 years old looking like they were released just a couple of years ago thanks to faithful developers - often backed up by the modding community. Here are ten legendary PC games that you probably didn't know you could download today. The fact that many of them have been updated for modern rigs means there's been never been a better time to crack out the keyboard-mouse combo, so get out there and track them down.
