10 Classic PC Games That Have Been Updated For Modern Devices

9. Stronghold/Stronghold Crusader HD

Buy Stronghold HDBuy Stronghold Crusader HD "Your Stronghold awaits you!" Anyone who's played this castle-siege strategy game will instantly get a warm, tingling feeling of nostalgia running up their spine upon seeing those words; your medieval squire inviting you to build up and defend a formidable fort against thousands of relentless enemies. For all its sequels in subsequent years, none have come close to recapturing the magic of the original. There's something about the graphics that has stopped them from ageing; the lively animations of everything from the trees to the soldiers, and a lifelike murky colour palette that feels befitting of the game's setting. The mandolin-heavy soundtrack is excellent, and assists in making the intense battles feel even more epic, as you stave off waves of hardy soldiers using arrows, vats of hot tar, and fire arrows to set alight the surrounding fields. Crusader is more of the same, but takes place in the arid climes of the Middle East. Both original Stronghold games received the HD treatment in recent years, giving you a nice, wide perspective on the battlefield during games.
