Although less common than in film and television, product placement is becoming more prevalent within video games. As jarring as it can be seeing real-world products on virtual billboards or cans of Monster appearing in Death Stranding's post-apocalyptic world, they're rarely too intrusive to become distracting.

This wasn't the case for Final Fantasy XV, which took its partnership with popular Japanese brand Cup Noodles to a whole new level of ridiculousness. Alongside numerous advertisements promoting the popular snack scattered throughout the game's world, there was also a dedicated quest centred around gathering ingredients to make the best cup of noodles possible.

Titled The Perfect Cup, this playable ad begins in Chapter 8 when players are approached by noodle-loving companion Gladiolus, who wants to gather ingredients to create "the ultimate flavour experience" to make his "noodle dream a reality".

After players choose which ingredient is their favourite, they're tasked with talking to a Cup Noodles vendor to locate the desired delicacy. Once it's been successfully gathered, usually after defeating a boss, players then return to camp to bring their artisan instant ramen creation to life.

Unlike most product placements, there was nothing subtle about this poorly disguised advertisement.
