10 Darkest Vaults In Fallout History

5. Vault 12

Fallout Vault 12
Bethesda

For this particular nasty vault we’ve got to go back to the original Fallout. Vault 12 was supposed to be a sanctuary with plenty of supplies to go around. Once again, enter the sadists at Vault-Tec and things start getting sketchy fast. This time it wasn’t what was inside the Vault that was the problem, but what was outside, you see the doors were designed to not seal properly.

Apparently Vault-Tec wanted to see how people would react to the effects of prolonged radiation. For those playing along at home the answer is: not well!

When you happen across the vault it’s populated by only a few glowing ones, but it did result in the creation of some of the first ghouls, some of which went on to establish the city of Necropolis upon the ruins of Bakersfield. So that’s pretty cool. Horrible, but cool.
