9. Gafgarion Final Fantasy Tactics
Gafgarions betrayal was shocking as it occurred so early during the story that I didn't have enough time to gauge his character. I already knew that he was after only the money and glory, but I didn't expect Ramzas brother to be involved in the plot as well. Gafgarion may have just been a tool in the end, but you would have expected him to at least have given a better excuse or spent some time thinking before turning on Ramza. What was more shocking was that Ladd decided to stick with Ramza rather than follow in the footsteps of Gaf. I know it may not seem shocking that Gaf, a mercenary after money only, decided to turn on his companions at first, but when you look at the story as a whole, its surprising that he allowed himself to be manipulated so much. Not to mention it was annoying as hell when he popped up at the execution site and Castle gates.
