10 E3 Moments That Became Internet Memes

3. E3 Nintendo 2014 - Reggie Vs. Iwata

Who can forget this epic battle between two titans of Nintendo? Designed to announce the fact Mii characters would be usable in the up-coming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at E3 2014, the promotional video first showed Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aimé throwing hands. From moves that look as though Yuen Woo-ping choreographed them, to flashier moves more in the style of Street Fighter and, of course, Smash Bros., the fight ends with both business heavyweights pulling out their controller of choice to commence battle with their Miis.

The video has been remixed into dubstep versions and GIFs have been made to add in frames from Fist of the North Star and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

It shows that Nintendo, with bosses like Iwata and Fils-Aimé at the helm, aren't afraid to shed the corporate image once in a while and have fun - which is what Nintendo is all about, after all.

Bryan Langley’s first console was the Super Nintendo and he hasn’t stopped using his opposable thumbs since. He is based in Bristol, UK and is still searchin' for them glory days he never had.
