10 Embarrassing Accidental Video Game Leaks
1. Pokémon Let's Go! Eevee & Let's Go Pikachu
The real question is: How do we decide what leaks seem real and which are obviously fake? When solid rumours about a new game appear, it can be easy to pass them off as one of hundreds of internet tricksters trying to fool us - especially if said rumour appears on April Fools Day!
Pokemon Let's Go Eevee and Let's Go Pikachu arrived for Switch in November 2018, after being announced on May 30th. A couple weeks prior to the announcement, however, fans were already buzzing over what they believed to be a possible leak pertaining to the first main Pokemon game to come to the Nintendo Switch.
Anonymous users posted to 4chan with names and logos for the upcoming Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, going into great detail on some of the features present in the new games. If only the leak hadn't been shared on April Fools Day, then we might have taken it more seriously!
What made this leak strangely convincing, however, was its similarity to a blurry screenshot that had leaked much earlier in the year. The screenshot showed a trainer riding on a Lapras, with an Eevee on her head, surrounded by an ocean filled with Pokemon.
We can, of course, look back on the details of this leak and confirm that every single claim about the game has indeed been legitimate, right down to Let's Go's integration with mobile game Pokemon Go.
