10 FANTASTIC Video Games (You Should Never Play)
6. Dragon's Dogma
The 2010s were a dark age for Capcom but there were a few diamonds in the rough released by the studio worth shouting about. Nobody expected Dragon's Dogma to take off the way it did. On paper, it masqueraded as a generic-looking action RPG with quirks in the form of scalable monsters and Pawn systems.
The result, a somewhat haphazard smashing together of The Elder Scrolls and Dark Souls, yielded something that, to quote Todd Howard, "Just works". Capcom managed to stitch together bottomless build diversity, meaningful exploration and a surprisingly memorable story in its first major attempt at an open-world RPG but even in 2012, the cracks and obtuse nature of several design decisions were obvious.
Limited fast travel, a mind-melting quest system in conflict with itself and a laughably awful UI have resulted in Dragon's Dogma becoming a victim of its age and a low budget.
With a sequel finally on the way this year, one can only assume what makes Dragon's Dogma a mild nightmare to play today will be remedied with its successor.
