10 Fearsome Video Game Women You Should Never Mess With

9. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Mjoll The Lioness

In a game that gives you plenty of variety in the amount of A.I. companions you can battle with, there are many who may irk you (I love Lydia to death but sublety isn't her strong point), some who may impress you, (J'zargo is the f%&@!$g MAN! ... or cat), and some who are even a little eccentric (Cicero provides hours of quality off-color comedy).

There are several candidates for being the most formidable female in the game - the aforementioned Lydia is clumsy but at least can hold her own. Astrid, despite some serious loyalty issues, IS the leader of a guild of assassins. Aela the Huntress armed with a bow is a weapon of mass destruction, and Delphine is pleasantly competent as the leader of the Blades.

Thus, Mjoll had significant competition to top the list in my mind.

One of the more polite, optimistic people in the game, Mjoll breaks the gender expectation for the game by utilizing (by default) a suit of Banded Iron (heavy) armor, and a large, rather unwieldy Battleaxe. She makes her home in Riften, a troubled lakeside hold in the country of Skyrim, where she performs various favors for the populace, helping them get out of jams, or (violently) dealing with bandits who plague Riften's citizens.

Oh, and she can't die.

Skyrim places characters in two categories: essential, and non-essential. As expected, the amount of the latter greatly exceeds that of the former, and your character will undertake quests that will result in you taking a lot of punishment. Thus, that heavy armor combined with that heavy axe, as well as some of the better offensive stats in the game, make Mjoll a formidable opponent - and a hell of a bodyguard.

"They have us surrounded? Those poor b**tards."

Regardless of whether you're in the thick of a melee against a horde of Falmer, or perhaps taking cover behind a pillar as Necromancers barrage you with Destructive magic, or even if you need a helping hand against a higher-level Dragon, Mjoll's Battleaxe and healthy armor stat make her a valuable asset, in the challenging realm of Skyrim, where there seemingly is always someone or something around that's trying to kill you.

Let's face it: your character isn't really a popular individual.
