10 Forgotten Horror Game Franchises That NEED A Reboot
6. Condemned
Outside of the flagship franchises, the Xbox 360 didn't have too many remarkable exclusive titles, however one that's firmly cemented in the heads of those who played it is Condemned: Criminal Origins.
An intense, visceral experience that saw players take control of Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent tasked with investigating a recent wave of violence and killings being perpetrated by an ever-increasing amount of vagrants. Ethan wastes no time diving into head-first into the case and finds himself spiralling deeper into a web of insanity and brutality that begins to wear upon his psyche.
Unlike a lot of other survival-horror games, Condemned places a heavy emphasis on close quarters melee combat in tight spaces, forcing players to confront their attackers head-on with any weapon they can find. It's a game where you never truly feel safe, there could be enemies lurking around any corner, waiting to jump out and smash you in the face with a hammer.
The game was successful enough to warrant a sequel, however fans and critics agree that it was an inferior entry that leaned too heavily into weirdness, ultimately detracting from the overall horror. Perhaps a third entry could wipe the slate clean and get us all cowering in the dark again.
