10 Gaming Things You Did Very Differently In 2007
4. We Absolutely LOVED Assassin's Creed
Here's another franchise that kept recycling itself over and over until we realised that, when games do it, it's not actually helping the environment. The difference here is that Assassin's Creed debuted in 2007, coming into the world like an adorable child (who would stab you the minute your back was turned).
Real talk here: the first Assassin's Creed isn't great. However, we all loved it. Not because we were stupid but because we saw the promise of a series that has could deliver some incredible experiences (which it has), but also a new console generation that had finally arrived. It was, as the kids say, a 'Moment'.
This is a good time to shout-out to Bioshock, Portal and Uncharted, all of which also debuted that year. They're all fantastic games in excellent franchises, but none of them really reached the same iconic height as Assassin's Creed. A height that the series ironically dived from before promptly crash landing next to a haystack.
Bonus fact: Black Flag is the best game in the series. ACII might have the greatest gameplay but Black Flag's main character is a Welsh pirate which is an automatic 8/10 by itself, even if he is from (shudder) Swansea. Fact.
