10 Gaming Things You Did Very Differently In 2007
5. We Weren't Bothered About Call Of Duty (For Most Of The Year, Anyway)
Although no one seems to be remember it, there were actually Call of Duty games before COD4: Modern Warfare. It's not like 12 Years a Slave where they skipped the first 11, we had an entire trilogy plus spin-offs before Modern Warfare.
And they were... fine. Before innovations such as 'Press X to pay respects' and getting abused by 12 year olds on voice chat, COD was just another World War II series. It sold and reviewed well, but you can't help but look back at the originals and go 'oh that's nice' (the way your mum did when you showed her that you baked a cake out of play dough and mud).
November 2007 saw Modern Warfare unleashed upon the public and gaming as we knew it was changed for the browner and the greyer. We all loved every minute, of course, until about Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013.
You could argue that people aren't bothered about COD nowadays. But if you look at the backlash over Modern Warfare Remastered being deluxe edition only bonus it's obvious that 2007 nostalgia is strong.
Which is why you should totally share this article when you're done reading it, thanks.
