10 Goriest Video Game Weapons - Ranked

1. Resident Evil VII’s Chainsaw

Bioshock Infinite Skyhook
Capcom

Speaking of chainsaws, one of those deserves a place among the pantheon of video game mutilation devices. Doom’s chainsaw was certainly satisfying, but it’s the chainsaw’s cameo appearance in Resident Evil VII that gets the nod here.

About a third of the way in to the game, the mad bayou patriarch Jack Baker tries to chop you up with a strange garden shears/hedge trimmer combo device. Your only defence against him is a chainsaw with which Jack has presumably been dismembering the corpses lying around all over the place.

Finally, after several hours of sneaking around and conserving every handgun bullet, it just feels damn good to wale on Jack with a chainsaw. Everything in a Resident Evil game loves coming at you with power tools, medieval weapons or giant mutant appendages. Jack’s even tried to run you over in his car at this point.

For once you get to use something equally savage on the bad guys. When the screen literally fills with fountains of pink gore from Jack’s sundered body, you get to feel for just a moment what it’s like to be the monster.
