10 Greatest Open World Games Of All Time

6. Minecraft

Few games get quite as open-world as Minecraft, seeing as how most games plop you down in their open-world with, you know, a point to it all. Go here, beat up this guy, cry over this dude, climb this tower etc.

Minecraft, meanwhile, has no point to it other than what you, the player, make of it. It is the ultimate building simulator and has only grown more powerful and complex in the years since it came out.

You wanna build an entire city, right out of your imagination? You wanna build a one-to-one replica of the mansion from X-Men, complete with a button that makes it explode, as is the destiny of the X-Mansion? You wanna just make giant knobs?

Minecraft not only lets you do it, it gives you all the resources and gizmos needed to make that forest of giant knobs dance a merry jig. Sure, it isn't for everyone, due to its appeal lying squarely in the player's ability to give themselves a project, but it is one of the most acclaimed games on the market for a VERY good reason.
