10 Greatest Western RPGs Of All Time
1. Fallout: New Vegas
For this author's money, the greatest RPG the western world has ever produced remains Fallout: New Vegas. The Fallout series has had some great entries, but New Vegas feels like the culmination of everything great that had come before from both the Bethesda and Interplay eras, leaving behind everything that didn't work.
The story begins with you getting shot in the head and somehow surviving. This will soon not even make the top 20 list of the weirdest things to happen to your poor befuddled mailman of a protagonist, as their journey to figure out WHY they were shot in the head will take them across the madcap wasteland of the Mojave, and all the weirdos that inhabit it.
The gameplay introduced in 3 is polished in New Vegas to a mirror shine, the world of the Mojave is some of the most beautiful world-building in gaming history, every single quest is interesting, and all in all everything about this game just flat-out works. There can be no debate, at least in this author's mind, that Fallout New Vegas is the best western RPG of all time.
