10 Hardest Bosses In Resident Evil History

9. Alexia Ashford - Resident Evil: Code Veronica

Resident Evil: Code Veronica is something of a black sheep in the Resi canon.

For what was supposed to be the next step in Resident Evil's evolution, it wallowed a little too heavily in the past and any steps-forward it did take went straight into the realms of high-camp and unbridled frustration.

One of its saving graces though, was the wondrously over-the-top villain, Alexia Ashford.

This platinum-blonde, stereotypically English virus queen didn't seem like much of a threat on the surface, but underneath she's one tough customer. Her humanoid form is fairly tricky, with her ability to create walls of flames to bottle-neck you into certain positions, as well as her one-shot immolation attack that can spell an instant game-over if she manages to touch you.

However, it's her final form that really boils one's peepee.

Now in the form of a gigantic insect queen, she fills up most of arena and rains poison down upon you, alongside spewing parasitic babies from her most unholy of caverns. Get past that stage and you still have to shoot her down once she sprouts wings and begins spewing acidic blood at you, all the while zooming around the arena and evading your attacks.

Truly infuriating stuff.
