10 Hardest Video Game Achievements To Unlock

Good luck.

Whether you're a "cheev hunter" yourself or not, achievement culture in video games sure is fascinating.

To those who simply have no interest in it, the fact that people would willingly spends hundreds of hours chasing the dopamine high of a 'cheev or trophy pop is inexplicable, yet to those who commit hard to hoovering up as many achievements as humanly possible, it's often the reason to play a game.

The thrill of finally unlocking a tricky achievement is quite unlike any other in gaming, of investing countless hours and honing your skills to finally win your digital prize, and for the truly committed, maybe even finally take home that Platinum trophy.

But it's also fair to say that some achievements are straight-up infuriating, intentionally designed to separate the casuals from the hardcores from the die-hards, such that only the top-level slice of players have even a vague chance of getting them.

These 10 achievements either require an insane level of time investment or a disturbing amount of luck, ensuring they represent the trickiest and most obnoxiously difficult achievements in gaming today...

10. The Floor Is Lava - Overwatch

Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus
Blizzard

The Achievement: "Get 3 killing blows while wall riding as LĂșcio without dying in Quick or Competitive Play."

Overwatch's "The Floor is Lava" achievement is a major pain in the ass for anyone hoping to tackle every 'cheev the game has to offer, largely because LĂșcio is one of the game's tougher heroes to master.

Scoring just a single kill as the character is pretty good going, and so racking up three in a single life, all done while wall riding no less, is an absolutely agonising feat.

In addition to the sheer finicky nature of pulling off kills while wall riding, it doesn't help that players have a tendency to steer extra clear of you if they catch wind of what you're doing.

And so, at present the achievement has just 1.26% completion on Xbox and 2.0% on PS4, placing it in the "ultra-rare" category, even if it's still decidedly more do-able than some of the other challenges on this list.
