The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a cult classic of a video game.

A kind of proto-Grand Theft Auto that allowed players to explore an expansive open-world based on the iconic cartoon, both in a variety of vehicles or on foot.

Much like the GTA series, Hit & Run included a story for players to work through, but some of the best experiences in the game could be found by just ignoring the quest markers and finding their own fun through exploring the game.

The game begins with a menu screen from inside the living room of the Simpson residence at 742 Evergreen Terrance, with Homer passed out on a couch.

However, if the player starts the game on the 31st of October, the menu screen will see the room decorated with pumpkins and skeletons for Halloween.

Also if the game is started on the 25th of December, Homer will still be passed out on the couch, but this time will be wearing a Santa outfit with a Christmas tree in the background.
