10 Horror Movies To Scare The Crap Out Of New Parents
7. Children Of The Corn
Like The Bad Seed, Fritz Kiersch had a big job on his hands replicating the downright creepy atmosphere of this novel by the master of horror, Stephen King. But this flick takes the original novel and brings every surrealistic element to life expertly.
Take an isolated town, an unsettling amount of swaying cornfields and bloodthirsty children and you have some hide-behind-the-cushions material. Add in an unsuspecting couple plunged into a murder mystery after hitting a dying man with their car and an ominous deity for good measure and you’re guaranteed some nightmares.
Though arguably some of the effects and script haven’t aged spectacularly in this film, the core story of a town ran by children in a Lord Of The Flies-esque democracy that sees kids sacrifice adults for a bountiful harvest is something sure to stick with any parent - and see them hiding all the sharp objects in the house.
