10 Hugely Important Video Games Kids Today Can Never Fully Appreciate
8. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
A product of its time, there was nothing cooler in the late nineties and early 2000s than the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games. Featuring the punk music of the generation and Jackass-esque humour that was hitting its cultural peak around the same time, these high-score-focused arcade skateboarders from Activision no doubt defined the teen years of countless gamers. However, while the quirky, irreverent gameplay still stands strong today - as achieving huge combos and nailing those special moves still feels as satisfying as ever - the classic Tony Hawk style and tone would probably be lost on today's modern youthful audience. Although the Pro Skater games were full of early noughties Americana, they perfectly encapsulated the culture of time they were released in; skateboarding was still considered a rebellious thing to do, the likes of Blink 182 were dominating the charts and playing these games truly felt like you were contributing to that lifestyle - one that has long since become out of date in the modern age.
