10 Iconic Video Game Villains RUINED By Developers
7. Waluigi - Super Mario
When Wario was introduced as the new baddie for the series in Super Mario Land 2, it was clear there was very little to this guy other than 'he's like Mario, but bad'. However, in the years since Wario has grown to become one of the most fleshed-out and recurring characters in the Nintendo arsenal.
Sadly, the same cannot be said for his trusty right-hand man, Waluigi.
Making his debut in 2000 with Mario Tennis, whether it be his impeccable fashion sense or devilish good looks, Waluigi has become one of the most popular villains for the Mario Bros. But, for one reason or another, Waluigi has been shelved as a bit-part player by Nintendo, only being wheeled out to give Wario a partner in the Mario party titles.
And even then, Nintendo has shown even that is a honour they're happy taking away from our moustache-twirling baddie. Mario Kart 7, for instance, didn't see Waluigi playable with Nintendo claiming he was too 'creepy' to be included.
It's a long-running joke for Nintendo fans how little of the spotlight Waluigi gets given, and there's no denying the company has badly missed out on an opportunity to create a villain potentially capable of rivalling the greats like Wario or Bowser.
