10 Impossible Video Game Achievements That Totally Broke You

1. “I Am Arthur Clarke” - War Of The Worlds

Ever played this one? If you said ‘no’, that’s not really surprising. Only two people are said to have unlocked this challenge, because of how difficult it was. That, and no one really bothered giving this one a try.

Based on the Sci-fi-horror novel of the same by H.G. Welles, the game is not a critically-acclaimed legend, unlike its source material. The protagonist, Arthur Clarke, must climb through the insides of what appears to be the invaders’ mothership.

Or something like that. Honestly, who cares?

The game doesn’t look too appealing, for one thing. It’s a third-person side-scroller, though the 3D graphics are none too pleasant to look at. Putting up with it is the first step of many, though that’s a big one in itself.

Anyway, the achievement requires you to beat it in one sitting without dying. Taking into play the buggy, unbalanced, and unfair gameplay, as well as poor controls and enemies who can kill you off-screen, it’s a pain.

The tentacle-swinging aliens will be on the hunt for Clarke. Then there are environmental dangers to dodge, like faulty wires spewing electricity.

Long story short, read the book. It’s more rewarding than giving this game a try, even once.
