One of the most beautiful things about gaming is its ability to make the everyday fun. Mundane tasks like cooking, cleaning, and even power washing can be converted into amazing experiences you enjoy for hours, even if you hate doing them in real life. Witch Beam's Unpacking is a fine example of this, as moving and unpacking is often considered one of life's biggest stresses, yet, here, it's a delight.

As you can infer from the title, this game revolves around unpacking boxes and placing things around small environments. The game progressively grows, starting with just a room and ending with entire houses, yet the core gameplay loop always revolves around finding the best places to put your things. It's satisfying and cosy to the max.

On top of that, the game also manages to tell a surprisingly compelling story. Each level depicts a chapter in the protagonist's life, with context clues and environmental storytelling showing how they've grown or changed. Little details like your favourite stuffed animal become emotional lynchpins in the narrative, letting you feel like you're living this person's life.
