10 Incredible Video Games Most People Abandoned At The Start

6. Ōkami

Okami
Capcom

Ōkami is one of the definitive cult classic video games of the last 20 years - an action-adventure game so beloved that a sequel was recently announced no matter that the original flopped so catastrophically that it caused the closure of developer Clover Studio.

Even those who love Ōkami will generally concede that the game can be a bit of a slog in places, though, and never more than during its irritating opening sequence, where players can't walk more than a few feet at a time without being bombarded with a battery of text explaining something.

Though this didn't cause too many to quit the game, the majority of players only made it a few more hours before throwing in the towel.

50.7% of players never learned to use the Vine ability, which is obtained from the Tsuta Ruins level about three hours into the game, give or take.

Bearing in mind that Ōkami is a 40-hour odyssey, that's barely scratching the surface of its story - like watching the first 10 minutes of a two-hour movie and turning it off.
