10 Infuriating Video Game Boss Battles That Made You Rage Quit
7. Lord Gyrgok - Volgarr The Viking
Volgarr the Viking is a game that gets off on making you hate yourself for playing it. It has an unrelentingly brutal checkpoint system that sets you back further than you could possibly have imagined after death.
After hours of trying, countless deaths and numerous minutes contemplating why you are doing this to yourself, you'll make it to the end of the first level to face Lord Gyrgok. And yes, I said first level.
At the core, Lord Gyrgok is not a hard boss fight. It requires a few simple and easy steps that just need to be repeated until he is dead. Where the true struggle comes, is by not dying to the numerous one-hit kills that litter his animation set. You will have to be very adept with the mechanics of the game in order to conquer this beast.
Once again, let's not forget that this is at the end of the first level.
When Lord Gyrgok no doubt ends up killing you, you'll be sent back to a checkpoint it feels as though you passed last year. When you run out of lives you'll be forced to run the whole level over again. The whole. agonizing. thing. No one is blaming you if you quit after this, and certainly no one is blaming you if you quit before you even get to Lord Gyrgok.
Deep down, who knows if the developers even wanted people to finish their game.
