10 Insulting Video Game Easter Eggs You Shouldn't Find
3. Mean Announcer - Waverace 64
Wave Race: Blue Storm is an old jet ski racing game for Nintendo 64 and the source of one of the longest and wildest mysteries in gaming that has remained a secret for years, only to berate the living crap out of people after it had been discovered.
The secret in question is hidden alternative voice lines for Wave Race's announcer that change him from an overly excited commentator to a bored and sarcastic douche.
The reason why the voice lines have remained a mystery for so long is because activating them requires you to perform a long series of elaborate and completely arbitrary actions. You have to open the game audio settings screen and then mess with the options while putting in a lengthy code.
The code activates the alternate version of the announcer, who, despite what all the effort required to unlock him might suggest, is designed to make your life miserable.
Not only does the announcer show no care for all the tricks and stunts you pull off, but he also insults you for playing!
Well, the discovery of the code is quite the fascinating development, but perhaps this sassy dude should've remained a mystery anyway.
