This said, it is actually possible for V to own their very own cat—it's just that you have to finish a quest that most people don't even know exists.

The mission in question starts with the player discovering a note inside a random trash can near their apartment (you can probably guess why the quest isn't better known now). The note will tell you to "feed the cat," triggering the gig to tame your very own feline companion.

Shortly after taking the note, V will gain the option to set up a bowl near the trash can and fill it with cat food.

After you return to the spot the next day, the cat, Nibbles, will appear, and you will be able to pick it up and permanently keep it in your apartment.

The quest is an absolute must for those who find Night City a little too devoid of animal buddies. Yes, it is illegal to own one without paying, but the risk of getting caught is definitely worth having a little bald gremlin keeping you company.
