10 Missable Video Game Side Quests That You NEED To Do
3. He Who Was (Never Seen) - Baldur's Gate 3
The Shadow-Cursed Lands are easily the most entertaining and interesting location in Baldur's Gate 3. Its twisted landscape and dark corners hide a lot of secrets, including a side quest that most players completely overlook on their first playthrough.
"Punish the Wicked" is a mission in which the player helps a mysterious stranger interrogate a ghost in order to have her confess to her past crimes. The premise is absolutely fascinating, and yet a lot of people don't realize the quest exists, due to its giver, He Who Was, setting up his camp on the furthest outskirts of the map.
Unless you do a lot of exploration on your own and are very elaborate about checking every nook and cranny, it's unlikely that you will find He Who Was.
The quest is definitely worth checking out, however, as, without spoiling anything, it comes with a twist about the ghost's crimes, and He Who Was is implied to be a Shadar-Kai, an elf hailing from the pocket world of the Raven Queen, the goddess of death.
To sweeten the deal even more, if you end the quest siding with He Who Was, he gives you the ability to permanently summon his unique raven companion, Quothe.
