Link's companions have taken many forms from his sword to his hat and even a Chain Chomp for a little while but none have been anywhere near as intriguing as the strange Twili creature: Midna.

Introduced as a very strange mash up of a cat, a monkey and a demon; Midna begins her relationship with Link with something of her own agenda and doesn't seem to care a great deal for the hero who has found himself trapped in the body of a wolf - but this seemingly friction laden partnership soon becomes something much more.

It is clear as the story of Twilight Princess progresses that the bond between Midna and Link is more than practical and their friendship is evident in the playful jibes Midna makes at Link's expense and her fierce reaction whenever the hero is in danger.

Her role at the climax of Twilight Princess is truly magnificent and when players finally see her true form (and Link's reaction) it's obvious there was a bit more to it than first meets the eye.

Midna has gone on to appear as a playable character in Hyrule Warriors and is incredibly deserving of the recognition the fans and the developers have given to her.
