10 Most Broken Spell Cards In Yu-Gi-Oh!

6. Scapegoat

Not every card on this list is banned but Scapegoat has come damn close over the last couple of years. Originally used by Joey in the anime Scapegoat is a quickplay spell that special summons four sheep tokens to your side of the field.

Scapegoat can be used offensively and defensively, summoning four sheeps to defend your life points during the battle phase can be a lifesaver but it has hidden implications when you combo it with Metamorphosis and transform a sheep token into the powerful Thousand-Eyes Restrict.

This was a common play during the GOAT format era of Yu-Gi-Oh! circa 2005 – yes, the card is that good it defines a point in time for the game.

Scapegoat has always been in and out of the meta after 2005 but when Konami announced the latest type of monster, a Link monster, and how you can use tokens to link summon Scapegoat came straight back into the spotlight.

Scapegoat has two weaknesses, one – you cannot summon monsters on the turn you activate the card and two, you can’t use the tokens as a tribute for stronger monsters.

However, when it was made clear that a token counts as a monster and can be used to Link summon Scapegoat became an automatic three of in most decks that lent hard on link monsters as players would activate it at the end of an opponents turn and go crazy with the tokens during their turn.

Over the last two years, the card went from three to two and now sits at limited to one on the ban list.
