10 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2021

7. Far Cry 6

GTA Definitive Edition
Ubisoft

Far Cry 6 is a game that, on paper, should be a runaway success. The gunplay is the best in the series, the open world is lushly detailed and realised, and player character Dani (the female version anyway) is a great protagonist with solid voice acting.

That's not to mention the sequel also boasts actor Giancarlo Esposito, who relishes every second he's on screen as the villainous dictator Anton Castillo.

So why doesn't it work? Well, the issue is sadly predictable: Ubisoft open-world bloat.

Far Cry 6 has absolutely no focus when it comes to its content. It opts for a quantity-over-quality approach leaving the player with a lot of things to do, but few things that are actually memorable. Side quests are copied and pasted from the first hour to the thirtieth, while even main missions suffer from a general lack of spectacle.

It's the kind of sandbox game that can give you an existential crisis, where you're running around a beautiful world half-enjoying yourself but wondering at every stage: why?
