10 Most Impressive Open World Video Games Since 2010

1. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

Easily the most fully realised open world game of all time, the Witcher III is just stunning when it comes to the gorgeous sandbox in which you play. The world can only be described as vibrant. Every village is meticulously crafted and even brief encounters with minor characters exude personality.

The map is jampacked, setting the standard for density when it comes to open world games. Where most mediocre worlds spread their content far too thinly, the Witcher manages to have a massive open world that isn't empty.

Combine that with how joyous it is to trot along on looking at the beautiful horizon and you have a game which is impressive. The Witcher III set the precedent that a lot of games have followed. Horizon: Zero Dawn and AC: Origins both borrow from the mentality that made the Witcher III great and that is simply a testament to its quality.

There is a reason the Witcher III is so highly regarded and a lot of that can be attributed to the brilliant world it creates.
