1. Hatoful Boyfriend
Ladies, have you ever thought, "I'm sick of guys!" How about "What I could go for is a bird, like... an actual bird!" Well, then all your problems are solved! In Hatoful Boyfriend, you take on the role of a young hunter-gatherer girl, the only human at St. Pigeonation's school - a school for intelligent and creative talking birds. Yep, this is a dating-sim where you try to find a bird of the flying variety. Although, it's somewhat more of a choose your own adventure book than a conventional video game, but then again this isn't any conventional list of games! There's a selection of 8 birds to choose from, ranging from a chakur partridge that plays the role of a creepy ninja doctor, a sickly pigeon that is your oldest childhood friend, and even your math teacher, who is a narcoleptic quail. Strangely enough, the storylines of each creature is fairly deep for a pigeon romance, adding replay value to want to discover each of the character's stories and the different possible endings. According to the creator of Hatoful Boyfriend, the whole idea was actually an April Fool's joke that seems to have gotten slightly out of hand, but spanning a sequel, a manga, even an uno styled game, it's probably one of the most profitable April Fool's jokes I've ever seen. If none of the strangeness above interests you, then maybe a pigeon wearing people clothes does? Or that the game is incredibly cheep? Or that it includes better bird puns than mine? A game highly recommended for everybirdie!
