10 Most Insanely Violent Video Games Ever Made

3. Mortal Kombat (2011)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFCrVRPexTg The original Mortal Kombat was one of the very first mainstream video games to feature extremely graphic violence, primarily during its "fatality" sequences, where more savvy players could execute hilariously elaborate finishing moves on their opponents - such as ripping your buddy's spine out - only adding to the humiliation of being defeated. Throughout the various games, these fatalities have become more and more elaborate, reaching an apex in 2011's Mortal Kombat, where with next-generation visuals, the gory finishing moves are violent on an almost unimaginably complex, almost artfully grisly fashion. Just check out the above video to see what we mean. Though their over-the-top nature means that they're never going to disturb us as much as the kills in Manhunt, the detail put into the kills is nevertheless impressive, showing us more of the characters' insides than we really need to see, and ensuring that the game's most iconic feature only continues to grow and be enhanced. Never have the two words "Finish him!" incited more of a blood-lust in us than in the most recent MK game, even if we're still struggling to get to grips with the commands.
