10 Most Overrated Video Games Of 2018
6. Hitman 2
Hitman 2 is one of the most frustrating AAA releases of the year, because though the return to a regular, day-one campaign is welcome and the six assassination sandboxes are undeniably dynamic, it nevertheless ends up feeling a little on the cheap, churned-out side.
The game was in an unquestionably tough spot given that Square Enix cut developer IO Interactive loose mid-development.
Rather than delay and regroup, Hitman 2 was blatantly rushed to market with hilariously naff storyboard cut-scenes (rather than the glossy cinematics fans expect), a nothing story, shambolic AI and agonisingly long loading times.
The core assassination loop and teeming amount of content in each sandbox is great, but overall Hitman 2 feels less like a sequel to the 2016 game and more of a solid expansion pack.
It's really just more of what came before, and while many will be fine with that, the game's unmistakably low-budget feel is a tad embarrassing for such an acclaimed and successful franchise.
