The original Mortal Kombat trilogy is famous for having an assortment of different palette swapped ninjas. These include the red palette ninja, Ermac, the purple palette ninja, Rain, and the black palette ninja, Noob Saibot. However one of the most popular additions to this exclusive club is the green palette ninja, Reptile.

Reptile is one of the last of the Saurian race, a group of lizard people with the ability to spit acid from their mouths and camouflage themselves to the point of invisibility. Reptile was unplayable in his debut appearance, featuring as a secret boss in the original Mortal Kombat. The player could fight Reptile if a silhouette passes across the moon on the Pit stage. They would have to win a double flawless victory and perform a ‘Fatality’ without blocking during the fight.

Reptile made his playable debut in Mortal Kombat II and has returned for every iteration of the franchise except for 2004’s Mortal Kombat: Deception and 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11. Despite not always being the most powerful character on the roster, Reptile, like all the palette swapped ninjas, is still one of the most popular characters. Reptile fans have been consistently demanding his return in Mortal Kombat 11 as DLC, even since the recent release of Kombat Pack 2.
