10 Most Powerful Equipments In Magic: The Gathering

9. Grafted Exoskeleton

Magic the Gathering has had many mechanics, some which have lasted and others which aren’t seen as much today. The -1/-1 counters from past sets are such a mechanic, rarely used in today’s games and only broken out rarely in certain formats.

Despite this, dealing damage in the form of -1/-1 counters is far superior to dealing regular damage as it gets past indestructible creatures and, even if it doesn’t drop a creature’s stats to 0, it can permanently weaken them. Poison is yet another mechanic which has been lost to the years, but it’s incredibly powerful as giving a player 10 or more makes them lose the game. Grafted exoskeleton does just that, giving the equipped creature +2/+2 and turning all of its damage to -1/-1 counters against creatures and poison counters against players.

Unfortunately, the drawback of this card is that if it is ever unequipped, the creature dies, however that is a small price to pay, especially when the lack of this mechanic in modern play means there’s not many accessible ways to rid a creature of such an affliction. Furthermore, you put this on an 8 power creature with a clear shot at the enemy player, and no matter what format you’re in that’s an instant victory.
