In each instalment, a group of characters narrowly survive a great calamity, which results in dozens of people being killed horrifically and painfully. When the survivors start dying in freak accidents, they realise The Grim Reaper is picking them off to rebalance the scales.

So, how do you defeat the embodiment of Death? The answer is simple - you can't. Death isn't a physical foe but a force of nature, meaning he can't be harmed, evaded, or outmanoeuvred. He cannot be reasoned with so he'll stop at nothing until he claims the souls he's owed.
