2. Fallout: New Vegas
It's a debate as old as time (or at least as old as 2010): Is Fallout: New Vegas better or worse than Fallout 3? Well, as much as the third entry set the template for the future of the franchise, it’s New Vegas that remains its superlative offering.
Las Vegas is inherently among the most visually arresting cities in the United States; therefore, combining its glitzy excesses and assorted terrains with the post-apocalyptic results of nuclear devastation is automatically enthralling.
There are massive amounts of flexibility regarding the RPG elements, too, permitting the comparatively multifaceted courier to become almost anyone the player envisions. Furthermore, his ability to become a brutish nincompoop, a suave bandit, a meek yet intelligent explorer, or any combination therein means that just about every decision is satisfyingly pliable.
Although the quantity of quests is perhaps a tad low, the quality of them is top-notch. Beyond being able to tackle them in numerous ways, nearly all of them are engrossing narratively, with a variety of tones being employed across its main, side, and unmarked expeditions.
Oh, and the Lonesome Road DLC even squeezes in an amusing nod to Planet of the Apes. What more could you want?
