10 Most Underrated Video Game Levels Of The Decade
1. Dark Souls 2 - Dragon Aerie
Dark Souls 2 is often considered to be the weakest link in the series, and even then, ardent fans would probably point to the ascent of Drangleic Castle as the finest location in the game.
Still, to focus on the other two games skims over some of Dark Souls 2's finest settings - one of which is Dragon Aerie; a gorgeous landscape close to the clouds.
After traversing through Aldia's Keep, a dark, macabre castle full of gruesome enemies and experiments, you find yourself among gargantuan dragons, running for your life across rickety bridges with no safety net. Exploding hollows are stationed in the most precarious locations, designed to throw you off guard.
Dragon Aerie is one of the hardest points in the game, but also one of the most beautiful, and contains a number of treasures in the dragon nests if you're brave enough to approach the winged beasts. Near the end of the game, these valuables can be essential, but it's certainly not for the faint-hearted.
An unforgettable, tense segment that is unlike any other environment, Dragon Aerie is easily one of the most overlooked segments in the entire Souls series.
