10 Obvious Video Game Remasters The Industry Is Ignoring
3. Red Dead Redemption
As part of Red Dead Redemption II, players can visit the location of New Austin from the first game. In the distance is the Nuevo Pariso portion of Mexico, almost completely modelled which some sneaky players have managed to explore it via glitches. This, and datamined unused files, almost imply that it was planned to be visitable in the game which added fuel to the fire of the belief that Red Dead Redemption was being brought forwards to the current generation.
However, it’s nearly been four years and all is quiet on the western front.
Red Dead Redemption II was a huge moment in gaming and as great as the original game is, its sequel was such a massive step forward in creating a hyper-real version of the old west. Considering the two game’s stories, and locations, bump up so close together it almost feels like a missed opportunity not bringing the original game closer in line with RDR 2 at the very least graphically, if not mechanically.
For those that want to shift more organically from one story to the other, a remaster of the first game could sharpen the edges and shave off the old age to make the duology feel smoother than ever before.
