10 Perfect Video Games That Actually Lived Up To The Hype
9. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Back in the months leading up to 2005, we first got a glimpse of what the then-latest Splinter Cell was going to look like - and from top to bottom it was staggering, a real jaw-dropper in every sense of the word. Ubisoft weren't the money-grubbing ragamuffins they're known as today either, and director Clint Hocking made a point of saying they simply wanted to make "the best looking game possible"; something that when the first demo dropped (remember them?) proved they really were a gifted group of individuals. Chaos Theory remains the definitive Splinter Cell experience because of this approach, one that although 2013's Blacklist managed to get close too, has the best selection of missions, incredible level design with multiple paths throughout and one hell of a lot of replayability. While we eagerly await another instalment at some point in the future, it's titles like this that remain perfect to revisit should you need to scratch that knife n' goggle-tinged itch.
