The first ever player drafted by the newly reformed Winnipeg Jets in 2011, Mark Scheifele has established himself as their best overall player. Seen as somewhat of a surprise pick six years ago, Scheifele has grown into a true no. 1 center in a league with precious few players truly worthy of the title.

2016/17 was a career year for Scheifele, who found a perfect finisher for his precise passing in the form of rookie sensation Patrick Laine. By no means a product of Laine, however, he thrived even when the rookie Finn tired in the final stretch and was moved down from the first line, with Scheifele still finishing over a point per game with 82 points, including 32 goals and a remarkable 50 assists.

This placed him as the Jets' top scorer, their most wholly instrumental player, and one of Connor McDavid’s closest challengers for the scoring title. His 87 rating in the previous game now seems almost humble, and a boost is necessary to reflect Scheifele’s annual progression as one of the top forwards in the league.
