Insomniac Games is one of the most successful independent games companies around, having put out iconic games like Spyro The Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, and Sunset Overdrive. It's no small feat. then, that the 25 year old company just had its biggest hit yet with Spider-Man.
The PS4 exclusive web-crawler game was the best ever based on the superhero, and set the foundation for a spectacular new franchise. The combat was excellent, the web-swinging perfect, and the story surprisingly touching. The only downside to Spider-Man PS4 was the lacklustre side quests, but Insomniac Games is aware of that and likely to put a lot of emphasis on that for the sequel.
Yes, the inevitable sequel to Spider-Man PS4 is assuredly already in the works. Spider-Man is PS4's best selling exclusive this generation, and a massive success for both Sony and Insomniac Games. So we can expect an even bigger, more bombastic sequel with better side missions, more diverse combat, more costumes, and a story that builds upon the foundation of the previous.
Spider-Man 2 is happening. However, with the first game releasing just last year, you can expect a sequel to be announced in 2021 and release the following year.
