10 Pointless (Yet Awesome) Character Abilities In Video Games

But is a hug ever really pointless?

One of the best things about video games is the level of escapism they offer.

Having a crappy day at work? Why not take some of that frustration out on some buildings in Red Dead Guerrilla. Can’t be arsed with the morning commute? Why not steal a plane, a boat AND a car, then slingshot them together in Just Cause 4? Not exactly feeling the outfit you’re wearing? Well, first off, you look lovely so don’t put yourself down too much, and also, just create a brand new character exactly as you’d like.

All of these features, all of these cool abilities, right at your fingertips! It’s amazing, right?! It’s a factor that immerses us in these digital worlds as you start to see your character as an extension of yourself. However, that’s not the only way video games can pull you into their worlds, because the entries on this list provide little purpose but are amazing examples of when a developer has tried to add a flourish to their games.
